Do Those Crazy Pants Come In A Size 10?

Do you ever lose it? I do.

The other night, a crazy person yelled at me. And I yelled back.

As a resident of New York City, being yelled at by crazy people happens. Like any urban area we walk shoulder-to-shoulder with the mentally unstable. For the most part, I deal. I ignore. I give away my excess change and write checks to Food Banks.

But the other night I just, I don't know. Maybe it was because I've been stressed at work, maybe it was because I was on the phone with a friend and embarrassed in front of her and wanted to stand up for myself. Maybe I was just tired. Whatever the reason, when this middle aged guy with scotch-taped glasses hurled mean insults at me, I yelled back. It was stupid and we caused a scene. I was humiliated and ashamed that I engaged. On the other hand, I can forgive myself for being a flawed human being.

When was the last time you lost it?

Just yesterday, when 3YO decided the Corian counter top would be a good place to use his markers. It was not my finest hour.

Aw, don't feel bad about it. I would consider it a badge of honor, or at least a good cocktail party story, to have gotten in a fight with a NYC crazy person. It's like saying, "I've arrived! I belong!"

I had a guy make a nasty, lewd comment to me at a dinner party last Friday night. Instead of telling him he needed to go to bed (he did), I wish I'd yelled and caused a scene.
Congratulations!

Yesterday. I was trying to be supportive of my boyfriend cause his mom is really sick and he snapped at me. I went from zero to enraged in a few seconds - I mean, I'm not here to be your emotional punching bag!

Yesterday at work when a co-worker stood at my desk while I was on the phone waiting for me to get off the line so he could ask me something.

Let's just say he claims he was not raised in a barn, that, yes, his mother did raise him better than that and he won't be doing that again any time soon.

I need a vacation.

Same old story: not enough registers open at the grocery store. Extra employees checking text messages at the customer service counter while my Cherry Garcia FroYo was liquifying. Loud words at manager, left my full cart in line & stormed out. Wish I could say it won't happen again, but this is at least an annual occurance for me.

Amy G-My husband once saw a supermarket employee with a t-shirt that read, "Don't Give Me Your Attitude. I've Got Enough Of My Own!" Can you believe her manager let her wear that? Oh wait. You probably can!

And once a year? You're doing awesome!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one losing it! With me, it's my family on Facebook! They rarely post anything, but when I do, they all pounce on my posts, ready to edit my comments. It's infuriating. I email them individually, explaining what I meant, then berate myself for having to explain! When I posted a picture of my kids and our parents from 30 years back, my brother immediately pounced, saying the past is not always good. ?? It was a sweet memory for me! I asked him online to leave my memories alone, and he retorted something, and then, I got so mad that I blocked him from my FB! So now I'm the Evil One!

I can really imagine how you felt when he yelled and insulted you. But don't feel bad about it. Instead, you should increase your self-confidence to face the crowd.
